Designer Spotlight

This year we are excited to be launching a new series to spotlight the amazing designers and architects who have used our fixtures in their projects. We will be highlighting their incredible work and learning more about their process, design philosophy, industry insights and more.

Widell + Boschetti

Our team has had the pleasure of working with the Widell + Boschetti team on several of their incredible projects.

Best friends and business partners Barette Widell and Christina Boschetti shared the inspiration behind the two recent projects and answered our questions about their philosophy and journey to becoming such an influential and widely respected design firm.

A trend that we feel will stand the test of time is mixing highs and lows. There is something said about good design where you can’t tell how much the items cost; it’s just so good!

We truly wanted this recent project to stand out by creating a full, dynamic, and engaging visual when entering the spaces.

Given this client’s eclectic vibe and colorful approach, we designed a home that expressed his personality - from the jaw-dropping chandelier to ultra-bold wallpaper and personalized design elements, actively paying attention to scale designing appropriately sized impactful pieces. We also created a spotlight for his collection of Bear bricks by custom designing a glowing lucite display case to work in conjunction with the organic element of the moss wall, which was flanked by our favorite Luke Lamp Co. sconces.

This home is a perfect example of the juxtaposition traditional meets modern.

The home was built in 1925 in a French Norman style, which definitely challenged the clients’ preferred modern style. Luke Lamp Co. lights were the focal point of this Great room. We used vinyl mirrored paper on the ceiling to achieve the ultimate reflection and glow. The symmetrical layout, clean lines, and tonal colors modernized the space dramatically.

How would you describe your design style?

Eclectic/contemporary but always timeless.

Can you share a little bit about your process in designing this client's space?

Are there any current trends that you think will stand the test of time? And likewise, are there any trends that you tend to avoid?

A trend that we feel will stand the test of time is mixing highs and lows. There is something said about good design where you can’t tell how much the items cost it’s just damn good!  We would say we dabble with “ trend colors,” like the color brown.   One that we tend to stay away from is upholstery with skirts; it feels like grandma and old country to us.

If you could go back to when you were first starting out, is there any advice you would give yourselves?

Never take this business personally. Even though you put your heart and soul into it, it’s a job, and there is always a solution.

Tell us more about being best friends, neighbors, and business partners! (And your alpacas!!)

Our partnership is like a marriage. I think, honestly, that’s why it works so well. Everything is so vertically aligned. Not only do we work together every day, but we do family outings together, travel, and overall have so much fun doing it all. At the end of the day, we respect each other and have a love that’s thicker than blood. We’re so blessed! As for the alpacas, they bring so much joy! They’re such peaceful animals and the perfect zen to my crazy life. Honestly I don’t know how I lived life before without these amazing creatures!
